Las Mañanitas | Placita Olvera | Annual Event
For over 20 years, hundreds of thousands of residents of Los Angeles and the surrounding cities have gathered on the evening of December 11th to celebrate the Virgin Guadalupe and sing the traditional birthday song, “Las Mañanitas,” at midnight. After many years, a need for a professional event management team became apparent to improve the safety and logistics of the event. There was a need in the community to create structure and security for patrons to continue to sing, dance, and celebrate in a safe, family-friendly environment. Okni, in partnership with The City of Los Angeles, El Pueblo de Los Angeles, The Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Police Department, and The Los Angeles Fire Department, have come together to keep this iconic city event alive for those who make the pilgrimage to celebrate. The Los Angeles Festival of Las Mañanitas is the largest celebration outside of Mexico City, which attracts 10 million people over a 48 hour period. Okni looks forward to continuing this beautiful cultural event for the community of Los Angeles.
